Right before planning a trip to a place, you immediately type on Google – ‘Best time to visit _ _ _’ . Well ask that for Munnar – a paradise within God’s own country Kerala, and the answer is ‘all year round’. A hill station in the Western Ghats mountain range of the state of Kerala and a former resort of British Raj elite, Munnar looks like an innocent beautiful child sitting peacefully in the lap of towering hills and lush green tea plantations, always ready for some rain drops as it’s drizzling here for most part of the year. So if you are a hill lover and are planning to visit this gem any time during summers and monsoon (as it gets crazy cold in winter), don’t forget to pack few things which are qualified as both necessity and style 😉
- Bright Cardigan
The temperature ranges between 5 °C  and 25 °C in winter and 15 °C  and 25 °C  in summer. Assuming that you are travelling to Munnar during summers or monsoon which are the best times to visit here, you would want to experience the early mornings and late evenings to let your eyes and soul make the most of your trip, a slightly warm cardigan will work for you but make sure it falls in the palette of bright colors because the green in background deserves that 😉
- Sporting Sneakers You recently bought a gorgeous pair of black boots ? Save it for your next trip. In fact, rather than packing a big pair of sneakers, put them on for your airport look and wear them all the time so that you are never tired and definitely, never out of style 🙂
- Comfy Shorts
Though no place is seen in its true essence unless you walk on its streets, but in Munnar, you don’t have too many options but to walk on these wafer thin roads and even walking till the restaurant nearby will feel like a trek due to the steep roads 😀 So leave those super tight clothes behind and carry the most comfortable pair of shorts so that you are always trek-ready 🙂
P.S. Avoid carrying flowing dresses to hilly areas unless you want to pull off a Marilyn Monroe. - Water Proof Kajal Though mountains offer a natural glow to your skin, your eyes need to sparkle every moment of the day, especially when it’s raining or you’re out speed-boating for long hours ! I recommend the Lakme Iconic ‘Deep Dark’ kajal (kohl pencil) that will keep your eyes pretty as well as healthy & smudge-free all day long.
- Blue Umbrella
This title has been given just to add drama, it doesn’t have to be a blue umbrella of course 😉 Anyhow, since it’s drizzling in Munnar for most part of the year and rains are even more unpredictable than our Prime Minister’s drastic steps, a foldable umbrella must go in your suitcase right now !
P.S. Munnar has some beautiful umbrellas being sold so keep some space to bring them home. - Â Light Windcheater
Though raincoats are adorable things, it’s always safe and better to keep a light-weighed windcheater with a hoodie for times when it’s not too cold and not too hot but just windy 🙂
Little cliche yet useful tip – Don’t fold but roll all your clothes while packing and you’ll find 50% more space in your suitcase !
